NCMHCE Study Plan: 14 Days to Exam Day

Published 2026-11-02 · Facts and text checked 2026-10-16 · Questions from our NCMHCE study guide · Reviewed by Hana N., Quality Reviewer

This 14-day NCMHCE study plan takes one content area per day with free case-based practice questions, adds a mixed day and a readiness check on Day 13, and ends with light review and logistics. It suits candidates who finished their program and need to switch from recall to clinical decision-making.

If your Day 1 quiz is weakest in counseling skills or intake and diagnosis, give those areas two days each: together they are more than half of the exam.

  • Review the cards you wrote so far.

  • If you are below 80%, spend the evening on the topics the result lists.

Day 14: Light review and logistics

  • Test your computer and room for online proctoring if you test with OnVUE, or check your test center details.
  • Re-read one case study slowly: intake, then two sessions, and the order of questions.
