Preparing for the GACE 705? Take a free readiness test and see which topics to study first.

This is the short, sourced answer to the questions candidates ask most about the GACE Middle Grades Science (4–8) (705): how many questions, how long it takes, what is on it and what you need to pass. Every number below comes from Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GACE, administered by Pearson)'s own pages, linked at the end, and was checked on October 10, 2026.

What the GACE 705 covers

Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GACE, administered by Pearson) lists 3 content areas:

  • Testlet 105: Physical Science (4–8), 40 questions, 60 minutes
  • Testlet 106: Life Science (4–8), 40 questions, 60 minutes
  • Testlet 107: Earth and Space Science (4–8), 30 questions, 45 minutes

The passing score

A cumulative score of at least 220 and the minimum score (floor) on every testlet.

Scaled or raw, this is the official standard: plan to clear it with a margin, because exam forms differ in difficulty.

How to use this to plan your preparation

  1. Check your starting point by area. Take a mixed set of questions and look at your results per content area, not just the total. The real exam has 110 questions, so practise in blocks that match its pace.
  2. Work the weakest area first, in short sessions, and read every explanation, including the questions you got right.
  3. Finish with full timed practice that matches the official time (2 hours and 45 minutes for all three testlets, plus 15 minutes for the tutorial and agreement), so the length of the exam is not a surprise on test day.
